If we are on break or if your need is more urgent, contact Scarborough General Assistance 450-5621. You may also use our contact form below, but it may take longer for us to respond. Who is Project GRACE?
Your neighbors. Your community. Project GRACE is an award-winning nonprofit volunteer group established in 2002, serving the Scarborough (Maine) community. When you call us, you will be speaking to a compassionate, knowledgeable volunteer.
What kind of help does Project GRACE offer? How quickly can I expect to get help?
Please call us to tell us about your circumstances. When you call, please leave your name, phone number, a good time to call back, and briefly tell us why you are calling. We check messages frequently, but we aren't in the office every day. We usually respond within a few days, but it may take us some time to consider your request or get back to you with questions or information. If your need is an emergency, contact your local General Assistance office.
What if Project GRACE can't help me?
We'll connect you with another resource. We will suggest other programs or services, including appropriate long-term resources. We may help connect you with case management, and with your permission, we may refer you to the Scarborough social worker liaison. If you do not live in Scarborough (Maine) we will refer you to 211 Maine for help finding services in your town.
Must I live in Scarborough to get help?
Yes. If you live in another town, we will refer you to 211 Maine for help finding services near you.
Does Project GRACE charge a fee for services? Do I have to pay Project GRACE back?
No.There is no charge for our services. We do not ask for repayment for our services. If your circumstances change and you would like to make a donation, that's appreciated, but not expected.
Will Project GRACE contribute to crowdfunding campaigns?
No. Project GRACE does not give money directly to individuals or contribute to crowdfunding campaigns like GoFundMe.
Is my conversation with Project GRACE private?
Yes. Project GRACE conversations are confidential. If we need to speak with someone else on your behalf, we will ask for your permission.
Who funds Project GRACE?
Many charitable people. Generous donors from the community are our main source of funding. We also receive grants and gifts-in-kind from other groups, businesses, churches, family foundations, etc. Sometimes we host fundraisers like our Fuel Rally.
