You take special care to find a wished-for toy; add a thoughtful touch like fresh veggies and fruit, sweets or flowers to a holiday meal basket; choose warm clothes that you would give to your own family; and give so freely of your time to make the holidays more joyful for all.
Those who receive your gifts feel your kindness, and are buoyed by hope. Thank you notes are starting to come in, and we'll post them soon; in the meantime, we wanted to share part of this very special letter enclosed with a generous contribution:
Merry Christmas to your charity group. I want to say that when I was a kid I used to receive gifts from Project GRACE. My family and I were always so grateful. My brother and I especially. We loved the heart warming feeling of receiving toys. Helped us not feel as left out while our friends always got fun gifts. The joy and happiness that you all have brought my family and I has never been forgotten. You've brought me a special feeling in my heart as a kid. A feeling that brings tears to my eyes now as a 24 year old ... I'm currently writing to you from 140 miles offshore. I will be out here until after Christmas. Instead of thinking about gifts for my friends and family, I can only think of Project GRACE. And how as a young kid I dreamed of one day being able to return the favor... Thank you so much, and happy holidays. I know you're all continuing to make children around this time of year very happy. Just the way you all did for me way back when. Merry Christmas! |
Thank you, one and all.
